Are you considering applying for teacher training next year? Then a school-led teacher training route could be for you!
There are a number of routes into teaching each suiting different individuals. The options available to you at Liverpool Hope University are;
The School Direct PGCE enables schools to take a leading role in Initial Teacher Training (ITT). One of the key benefits for Liverpool Hope University School Direct trainees is the opportunity for development and progression. Our School Direct Partnership believes that it is vital that all of our trainees have the academic and theoretical underpinning to become outstanding practitioners within the field of Education. This is why we make it compulsory for all trainees completing a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) to study at Masters level. This aspect of the training takes place at our Hope Park campus. The PGCE is a 60 credit award that can offer progression, upon successful application, onto our Masters in Education (180 credits in total) for those students who want to pursue further study.
The University’s Faculty of Education places a strong emphasis on partnerships and we work closely with schools, dioceses and the community to design, deliver and quality assure training that results in the education of outstanding, passionate and talented teachers. We recognise that the quality of our students gaining Qualified Teacher Status is dependent on the valuable work carried out in schools and ensuring a collaborative approach is maintained at every stage of the management and delivery process.
Liverpool Hope University is currently working with a number of schools developing high quality School Direct Initial Teacher Education (ITE) to develop bespoke training programmes that meet the needs of each lead School, the students training within them and the networks in which they operate. If you are interested in finding out more about our School Direct Partner schools, please visit their websites or contact them directly for further information. To apply for a School Direct place, you will need to apply via the School Direct lead school via the UCAS website.
